Llanberis Lake Railway - Our Celtic Railway Partner

No visit to North Wales would be complete without a ride on one of the Great Little Trains of Wales. The Llanberis Lake Railway offers unrivalled views of the mountains of Snowdonia from viewpoints quite inaccessible by road.

Starting from Gilfach Ddu Station in the Padaran County Park, the trip begins with a ride on the newly opened extension up to Llanberis Village, passing historic Dolbadarn Castle on the way. Break your journey here if you wish to visit Snowdon Railway, Electric Mountain Visitor Centre, as well as the shops, hotels and restaurants of Llanberis High Street. From here the train runs non-stop through Padaran Park and along the shore of Padaran Lake (Lyn Padaran) to Penllyn, making a short stop at Cei Llydan Station on the homeward run. You may stop off here for a lakeside picnic or to visit Cwm Derwen Woodland Centre and return on a later train.

The five mile round trip on the railway takes approximately 60 minutes. The station cafeteria at Gilfach Ddu is open when trains are running from Easter to late October. Why not sit and watch the trains go by! The recently extended souvenir shop offers a wide selection of goods for all the family.

A specially adapted carriage is now available for wheelchair users. Toilets, including disabled access, are situated within the park.
